Mental Health Net is a comprehensive, fun and useful guide to every mental health topic imaginable, with over 3,000 individual resources listed. The information found here is for everyone associated with mental health. Topics covered on MHN range from disorders such as depression, anxiety and substance abuse, to professional resources, journals and self-help magazines. Their site is dedicated to providing information and research relating to Mental health in "frontier" areas, including rural America, and 3rd world nations. Aimed at researchers, service providers, and clinicians. Includes the text of their "Letters to the Field", and information on obtaining them in paper format.

Internet Mental Health <www.mentalhealth.com> is a free encyclopedia of mental health information. It was designed by a Canadian psychiatrist, Dr. Phillip Long, and programmed by his colleague, Brian Chow.

<www.mentalhealth.org>KEN -- The Knowledge Exchange Network <www.mentalhealth.org> is a national, one-stop source of information and resources on prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services for mental illness.

<www.wfmh.com>The World Federation for Mental Health is an international, non-profit organization established in 1948 to advance, among all peoples and nations, the prevention of mental and emotional disorders, the proper treatment and care of those with such disorders, and the promotion of mental health. The Federation achieves its goals through public education programs such as World Mental Health Day, research through collaborating centers at major universities, consultation to the United Nations and its specialized agencies, and a regional structure for organizing project work at the community level.

Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law is a nonprofit, legal advocacy organization. Site includes information on various advocacy and anti-discrimination tools, action alerts and information on managed care.


Alaskan Mental Health Groups

Juneau Alliance for the Mental Health, Inc. (JAMHI) is a consumer group in juneau, and an affiliate of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.

Parents, Inc. is a group which provides support services for special needs children. This includes disability support, scholarship information, and support groups.

Denali Kid Care <http://www.hss.state.ak.us/dma/denali.htm> is Alaska's Medicaid program for low-income children. The family income limits are higher than those for other medical assistance programs, and the program functions as an insurance program.

The Alaska Foster Parent Training Center <www.mosquitonet.com/~afptc> is an agency devoted to providing training to current and prospective foster parents.

"Dr Ian's Depression Central" <www.psycom.net/depression.central.html> a good site with much information on mood disorder and information on many of the newsgroups on the internet dealing with it.
