Description:

A year long feat of arms as described in the Notice. The White Stag began just as informally as the story relates - an offhand idea that was taken up by others at the event and grew into a year long bit of fun and chivalry. The planned spiff began with the formal challenge delivered at a later event with the help of Viscount Sir Georg, Lord Bjarni and Lady Erika.

How it Went:

Sir Kylson was the first to ask for combat with the stag and was, some time later when the Stag first hung the shield, the first to do combat with it. Master Patrick, Lord Connor and Lord Colin also fought on that first day.

Support throughout the year was exceptional. Combat occurred in most parts of the Principality including the Barony of Eskalya, the Barony of Winter's Gate, the Canton of Inbhir na Da Abhann,  and the Shire of Grey Cliffs. At each of these events, some who answered were presented with baskets of fruit and others received the task to speak; many received both. One gentle who was visiting from Central Kingdom pledged to fulfill his task in his homelands.

At the Summer Hunt of AS XXXIII, the last day of the White Stag's challenge, Baron Tancred met the stag with single sword. After that the White Stag made his farewells. Small tokens of jade-glass leaves and pearls were presented to the ladies present and a basket of fruit was given to Lady Claire in particular. The shield used in the feat was present to the Canton to hang as they wished. Along with the shield went the promise that if the ladies of the Canton ever strike it in need, the White Stag would come to their aid if it was within his power.

Lessons Learned:

This worked very well. The terms allowed for a lot of flexibility and there were many chances for pageantry. A lot of people took notice and many people within the Principality were introduced to a period-style feat of arms.
