The
I R N
"- all the gnus that have fits to Prince -"

These are the raw archives of the IRN.

The original concept was this:

  1. Email a goofy question out to the subscribers. Give them a week to respond.
  2. Wait until 2 am the night before an issue was to be published. (This was to ensure maximum addlement of the compiler.)
  3. Compile and make fun of everyone's answers. (This spontaneously developed later; at first, I just send out all answers unadulterated. Once I started mocking responders and myself in equal measure, things started to get quite a bit more entertaining (relatively speaking).
  4. Send the result out to the group.
It was going great guns for a couple of semesters (Feb '91 - Oct '94), but then I started to get distracted. As a result, membership waned, which is probably a good thing, since poking fun at each answer could be time-consuming if there were a thousand people on the list. :)

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

See the FAQ for more information of dubious usefulness, including a list of known and suspected members. If you know where they are and want to show them how goofy their emails were ten years ago, please point them in this direction.

See the original disclaimer - it still applies.
