IMMACULATE CONCEPTION PARISH COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

September 16, 2009

7:05PM meeting called to order

1.  ROLL:

Members present:  Silver Chord, Marie Muehlenkamp, Steve Mullins, Cindy Fields, Phyliss Dixon, Xylina Kinsey, Vicki Kinsey, Tammy Want, Father Mirek, Shirley LaForge (recorder)

Members excused:  Deacon Bob Mantei

2. Minutes from meeting August 19, 2009 accepted and approved. 
3. Minutes from July 2009, approved and accepted.
4. Staff, Ministry and Committee reports
   1.  Religious education: Adult classes starting soon, Bible study class with 44 participants, Kids program start Sunday at the school
   2. Community service: Harvest festival completed, coat give away may be done at ICC, Thanksgiving is currently being planned, volunteers at soup kitchen work well with community support groups, volunteers include military who have recently returned from Iraq
   3. Budget: no report at this time
   4. Social Events Coordinator/Calendar: no report.  Advent Festival reported to start on Nov. 22.  Calendar project to proceed and continue.
5.  Unfinished business
   1.  Community Outreach definition:  “For the express purpose of all future fundraising activities, when the fundraiser is decided upon, a concise and defining decision must be made concerning the allocation of the proceeds, ie. Special Activities, Soup Kitchen, Religious Education, etc.;  If the term Community Outreach is used it will be assumed that the funds raised will go to Community Service in support of the Soup Kitchen.”  Motion was passed that the above be adopted as the definition of Community Outreach.
   2. Report on Harvest Festival:  Deemed successful by those in attendance.
   3. ICC website:  Money ($350.00) donated by retailer, John Hadad at Harley Outpost.  Dream weaver updated and to be installed into secretary computer.  Steve Mullins to help Father with update.
   4. Knights of Columbus:  Discussion as to their involvement? 
   5. Stephen Ministry:  Vicki to look into this and possibly invite Jodi  Stack to November meeting.
6. New business
   1. Vice chair is now Steve Mullins as he replaces Ed Hoch
   2. Regional Pastoral Council needs a representative.  Vicki Kinsey expressed interest.  Meets quarterly
   3. RCIA will begin on October 7 with Matt Scerbach in charge
   4. Movie night:  Tammy Want and Marie Muehlenkamp will be in charge.  Will be placed in the bulletin, to occur on 3rd Friday of the month
   5. Fundraiser ideas brought up by Xylina Kinsey.  Perhaps council can begin to think of ideas, ie Lasagna sale.  Chairperson hopes to collect proceeds to assist Father Mirek celebrate his 20th  anniversary in the priesthood.  Planned date for this is May 12th, 2010.
   6. Xylina Kinsey hopes to present Mission experience to parish on November 29, Sunday 400PM and to include a potluck.
   7. Vicki will search parish members who can assist with grant writing.
