strategy is Open Source, and for several years, we have been an active
partner with the Open Source community, using and contributing to the
Open Source projects that are at the foundation of the InterJet.
When we started in early 1996, Open Source
was the logical, and starting off with building blocks like FreeBSD,
Apache, sendmail, Samba and others, truly allowed our engineers to "stand
on the shoulders of giants".
An Open Source-based strategy has worked
for IBM/Whistle, and for our customers, producing an award-winning product
in mass deployment in the U.S. and around the world. And, Whistle has
completed the partnership cycle by contributing code back to the Open
Source community on an ongoing basis.
