The InterJet®
II includes a comprehensive
firewall that helps protect your network and its sensitive data from
the outside world. The InterJet firewall is designed to allow information
to pass through it if a computer on your network initiated the request
for information. Just like a one way mirror, people inside the firewall
can see out, but those on the outside are not authorized to see in.
The InterJet provides several different
levels of security. Each of these security features is pre-configured
for your peace of mind.
- Packet Filtering looks at each packet
of data entering or leaving the network and accepts or rejects it
based on a strict set of rules.
- Network Address Translation (NAT) is
the process by which all IP (Internet Protocol) addresses for the
computers on your Local Area Network (LAN) are mapped to a single
IP address. That is, when an internal computer sends data to a computer
outside your office, the IP address that accompanies the data (source
address) is changed to the InterJet's IP address. To a hacker on the
Internet, it seems as if all requests are emanating from one computer,
thereby discouraging them from performing further probing.
- Split Internet Services means that each
service (DNS, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, POP) has separate internal and external
services. This makes your office more secure because it only allows
external computers to send requests to the servers running on the
external side of the firewall and does not authorize them to access
information from any of the internal servers.

Office Network from the outside world
