Order of the Argent Bear

The traditional Newcomer's Period Tourny and the traditional Summer Guard Tournament will be combined this year in a format reminiscent of William the Marshal. This means a ransom tourny where you can fight as long and as often as you like - as long as you can gain or pay the cost!

Combatants will be have coins with which to pay their ransom if captured. The price of said ransom will be based on one's rank with Knights paying more than unbelted fighters and Dukes paying most of all. A defeated combatant or team, if they can be gotten to the list table, must pay their captor the ransom before they can reenter the field. Rescues are possible (and great fun).

You do not need to be competing for the Guard to play - you can seek renown in your own right and help test the valor of those who are competing. Nor do you need to be part of a team to join in - although you are reminded that tournaments of the 12^th Century could be pretty rough and unruly - joining with other 'singles' into an informal team may be well advised.

A team banner is strongly encouraged - you can make one now or some supplies to make one on site will be available. We will try to find a way to fit in banner bearers to follow your team around as you fight!
