ispatches from The Expedition May 20, 1999 [PM dispatch]
Columbus, Ohio, USA James Buratti With A Brief Update Currently, very little is know about the status of the PMA Team - Jacek Maselko, Ryszard Pawlowski, Tadek Kudelski - which summited May 18. Since the summit call from Eric Brown and Jacek Maselko only one other call has been received. Eric called briefly Wednesday morning to confirm Jacek Maselko had descended safely to Camp III. The status and position of the other members of Team One was, and still is, unknown. It is hoped Eric will call tonight (Thursday in the US, Friday morning on Everest). If we learned anything from the Ukrainian climbers it is that Eric will wait and report the facts in full, not the rumors. As soon as he does I will pass it on to you. I felt this posting was necessary and the proper way to confirm what I could. |
