| Matrix Jewelers came into existence in 1985,
originally the home of Alaskan residents and jewelers, Pat Pearlman and Edith Shope, and
life-long resident and gemologist, Kay Hoch. Matrix featured the work of local artisans,
as well as a selection of diamonds and colored stones.
In 1987, co-owner Kay Hoch, 10 year owner of Gem
Labs of Alaska, bought out both partners. Prior to establishing Matrix, Kay had been
traveling abroad, acquiring an extensive inventory of high quality emeralds, rubies,
sapphires and other colored stones. In 1981, after obtaining a Graduate Gemologist Degree
in diamonds and colored stones, he expanded his business to include diamonds. |
