Frame Designs and Gallery, Albuquerque, New Mexico--(505) 275-3338, Ed owns this shop and has been selling me Hanks Prints for many years. He's open Sun-Fri. He has the best selection of any gallery I've ever visited (and that's a bunch). He has an advantage being in Albuquerque, since Steve lives there.
Mustang Gallery, Lewisville, Texas -- 1-800-245-7161, Rod has what seems to be the only limited edition Hanks Prints in the DFW metroplex. He had a nice selection both framed and unframed when I visited last.
Stephan Fine Arts, Anchorage, Alaska-- 1-800-557-7239, My personal favorite because of the service I get from one of their employees. Carrie works very hard to help me get what I want, she works M-F, 5-9 p.m. Alaska Time (that's 9 to Midnight Central time). Unfortunately they don't stock Steve's work any more, and I think "Her Side" and "View from the Balcony" are all she has left. Believe it or not, their charge for shipping is usually no more than what you would pay from the lower 48 states.
Each of these people was very helpful and seemed to honestly appreciate Steve's work.
The following businesses I've dealt with through the internet or by phone, but have had no in person contact.
World Wide Art, Castro Valley, CA--www.world-wide-art.com--Wow, what a web site. They have the biggest selection of images of any place I've found on the web. They seem to have a great selection, but they also seem to be sort of slow on delivery.
Snow Goose Gallery, Columbia, Maryland-- www.snowgoosegallery.com --A smaller selection of prints, but Blair is a really nice guy, and his delivery was quick.
E.S. Lawrence Gallery, Aspen, Colorado--www.eslawrence.com--They are definitely the place to go for original Hanks works.
I have bought one print from several other galleries and had no major difficulties. These include Graben Art in Coon Rapids, MN, Denali Graphic and Frame in Anchorage, AK, and Images of America in Jackson Hole, WY. I haven't dealt with any of them enough to give a strong recommendation. I do recommend that you not get too excited about most of the web sites on the internet, other than the three above, most galleries don't seem to keep them up to date, so the prices and availability are questionable.
Then there's EBay. Best thing to be said here is "buyer beware". Some of the listings are very misleading, suggesting that posters are limited editions, some suggesting they are signed when it's simply part of the poster. On the other hand, I've made some screaming good deals, but you take your chances.
