Bird Creek

For locals this creek has special meaning. It's a first look into the abyss of what makes hair, hair.  It's a lush green wonderland of class III-IV low volume creeking happiness punctuated by the inner sanctum of the extreme(V).  Bird is a short 20 minute drive south of Anchorage and is a popular evening run.  50 minute walk-in. Details in Fast and Cold.  Usually it is runnable May through October.  High water is a lot of fun and is the best level to run the inner sanctum.  Comes up quickly with a heavy rain.

Ingram Creek

Ingram is the premier class V waterfall run in the state.  Located 1hr south of Anchorage it is easily accessible from the highway over Turnagain Pass.  It runs strongest from May through June, but later season runs are always possible with seasonal rainfall.  This creek can be run in sections or all in one day.  If you don't know what you are doing don't get on this river. If you do, consider taking someone along to show you the way!

Campbell Creek

Urban hairball, low volume , high gradient, elbow bashing, knuckle nibbling, strain-o-rama, need I say more?  This run is in Anchorage!  Not run until the summer 1997 this little wonder makes you feel like your on an expedition for National Geographic without leaving town.  Extreme caution - experts only, and bring some elbowpads.  Not in the guidebook.
