Alaska Passages Adventure Cruises

Seakayaking the Inside Passage

Alaska seakayaking, kayak While cruising in the Heron we are able to stop at prime spots for paddling. In our thirty years of exploring these waters we have found some remote and beautiful places and we are glad to share our secret spots with you. Quietly paddling along the shore we might spot a bear on the beach or a family of otters fishing nearby. We might surprise a mink scrambling up the rocks or a wolf trotting along the shore. In some places the harbor seals follow our kayaks and sea lions cavort next to the boat. Sometimes we get visited by the the whales!

kayak base

The Heron provides a wonderful floating base for our kayak adventures. At the end of the day you return to a warm and inviting main salon, the delicious smells of dinner cooking, a hot shower and a comfortable bed.

Cruising on the large boat means we can cover a variety of paddling environments, from reversing tidal rivers to glacial fjords to rocky islets covered with birds. We have three kayaks, two are doubles and one has a large open cockpit and can be used as a single or double. The boats are very stable, and no previous kayaking experience is necessary. We have had guests of all ages enjoy this activity. The use of the kayaks is included with your cruise.
