MANAGEMENT THROUGH TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE & WISDOM: SUBSISTENCE AND SCIENCE

The St. Paul IRA Tribal Government, the Pribilof Islands Stewardship Program and NAFWS are hosting a workshop entitled Management Through Traditional Knowledge and Wisdom: Subsistence and Science, January 20-22, 1998 in St. Paul. We hope groundwork will be laid to promote and strengthen local management. Due to concerns about the health of the Bering Sea Ecosystem, hunters, subsistence users, researchers and agency representatives need to meet to discuss common concerns about marine resources. Reports will be given on the summer field season, the seabird die-off, toxin levels in marine mammals, and the status and effects of listing sea lions as endangered. It should be a very dynamic workshop, and we would enjoy seeing you there.
