Capacity Building Workshops

The Alaska Conservation Foundation is hosting several free training events at the Cambell Creek Science Center in Anchorage. Please pre-register as space is limited, and a limited amount of travel assistance is available for each event. Requests for assistance must be made at least 25 days prior to the event. • Fund-raising for Social Change, September 19 - 20. Kim Klein is the author of “Fund-raising for Social Change” and the “Grassroots of Fund-raising Journal.” She will teach how to build financial support by grassroots members and major donors, and will be available to organizations on an individual basis by appointment.

• Dealing with Despair - An Antidote to Burnout, October 16, 17, 18. Annie Prutzman of the Institute for Deep Ecology will present this workshop based on work by Joanna Macy, a well known philosophy professor, nuclear activist and Buddhist.

• Managing for Change - Finances Made Easy, November 12,13. Terry Miller, consultant of non-profits financial management, will make the nasty, unavoidable business of financial statements and fiscal management interesting and fun.
