Ross Coen, Executive Director

Ross is the Executive Director of the Alaska Forum.  He began working a part-time, volunteer basis in September 1999 and became the full-time director in January 2000.   

Ross has been involved in environmental issues – professionally and as a citizen activist – in Alaska since 1996. He has served as staff for the Northern Alaska Environmental Center, where he coordinated their Wilderness Campaign, and for the Alaska Conservation Foundation, where he worked on a program of oil industry oversight. Ross also serves on the board of directors of Alaska Conservation Voters. His past environmental activities include Alaskans Against Billboards, a campaign that successfully outlawed billboards in the state, and a college environmental group, UAF Student Conservancy, of which he was Vice President for 2 years. He has a Bachelor of Arts in English (Literature) from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.  Ross lives in Fairbanks with his partner, Tonya, and their dogs Abbey and Oscar.
