Scoop From The Coop

We're planning a trip out to "America" as Gordon calls it, on our Gold Wing "Cruise"... We'll be riding to Haines and then taking the ferry to Bellingham, WA... We're really looking forward to seeing the countryside from the bike and hope to make connections with friends and family along the way.
We survived
the terrible wind storm of 2003!!! Thank You Lord!!! For those
of you who hadn't heard about it, a bad wind storm blew in about the middle
of March and we had winds up to and over 100 mph, which blew roofs and
siding off homes, knocked trees over, blew big tractor trailer rigs over,
etc. etc., not to mention leaving us without power for two days...
Thank heaven we got a big 10 kw generator just before Y2K... That
generator has paid for itself, as it kept us from freezing up and we were
able to keep the stock tanks open as well... Between the high winds
and the low temps (we're talkin' below zero) it brought the wind chill
factor down to well below 80 below zero!!! People were having their
plumbing freezing up and breaking... Boy, what a mess!!! There
were also some fires that were some how brought under control in those
high winds... Unbelievable!!!
We only
suffered minor damage to the roof of the tack shed... Thank You Lord!!!
We were sitting at the kitchen table having coffee, when I saw the front
of the tack shed come off the ground about 4 inches, and the top row of
roofing paper ripped off... The last time we had high winds (nothing
this bad) it just about blew the tack shed over, and in fact, did blow
it off it's foundation and back about 3 feet... That summer, as soon
as we could dig a hole, we moved the tack shed back onto it's foundation
and planted two posts right up against the back of the shed, so it couldn't
blow over... That's the only thing that saved it this time.
Until next time... Keep well, and remember to pray for our troops.
