It has been difficult in the past to find
information on Shibas. There is a lot more information available
now, but the best source available is still word of mouth. Call a
breeder. Talk to an owner. Ask someone who knows. There is
excellent printed word out there, but nothing substitutes for
hands on experience.
I do not recommend anyone buying a puppy from a
pet store. The person behind the counter is not the breeder of the
puppy, does not know the parents, and cannot personally guarantee
to be there for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if you have
questions or problems or even good news. This is does not even
address the horrible conditions of the puppy mills that supply the
pet stores with the puppies.
