What
happens to undeliverable mail?
|
|
Problem:
|
When a client sends
mail to a nonexistent Internet email address, what does the
InterJet do with it?
|
|
Solution:
|
If an email is
sent to an invalid Internet address, the email will be returned
to the sender at a time set on the InterJet. The Email Agent
setting "Hold indeliverable mail for x days" will determine
how long the InterJet will attempt to reach an external mail
server. During the time the email is held by the InterJet, the
WhistleWare's Email Agent will show the message as "pending"
- that's the indication mail is waiting to be delivered.

How
to remotely retrieve email from an InterJet
|
|
Problem:
|
What is required to retrieve
email from an InterJet with a remote client?
|
|
Solution:
|
To successfully retrieve
email from an InterJet remotely:
- The remote client must
have dial-up Internet access
- The remote client must
use an APOP-compliant email application (Microsoft Internet
Mail, Microsoft Outlook are compliant applications)
- The InterJet must be connected
to the Internet when email is retrieved or sent
To set up the remote email
client:
- Find the email client's
SMTP field. Enter IP address (for example, 200.200.1.1)
or the fully qualified name (for example, mail.your_company.com)
of your dial-up SMTP server.
- The email client may also
have a check box to allow APOP (Eudora and Claris Emailer)
or Secure Password Authentication (Microsoft Outlook:
Accounts-> Mail-> Properties-> Servers->
Log on using Secure Password Authentication).
- Enter other email application
information (name, password, etc.) as usual.
- When the remote client
and the InterJet are connected to the Internet, use
the email application as usual to send or retrieve email.
