Client Setup and Installation

You are installing a Windows 3.11 (Windows for Workgroups) computer.

Solution:

You will need a TCP/IP driver for the Windows 3.11 client. Download the TCP/IP stack from Microsoft's Internet site and install the software.

  1. Go to ftp.microsoft/com/bussys/clients/wfw. Click on the tcp32b.exe file and download it to a floppy.
  2. Copy the file to the Windows 3.11 client's hard drive and run the executable program.
  3. Double click the Network Setup icon in the Network program group in Program Manager.
  4. Choose the Drivers button to display the Network Drivers dialog box.
  5. Add Protocols, and choose the option "unlisted or updated protocols". Click OK.
  6. Enter the path where the files are stored and click OK.
  7. Once the TCP/IP protocol appears on the left side, select it and go to set up.
  8. Either select DHCP, or enter the IP configuration information manually.
  9. Select OK, close the program, and reboot the Windows client.

Continue installation by using an existing browser on the Windows client, or by installing Netscape Navigator from the InterJet.
