Fishing on the Kobuk River 2001

The Kobuk River is a very large, clear stream that flows westward from North Central Alaska along the Brooks Range until it empties into the Bering Sea.

My Father, Stan Baker, shows a beautiful 40 inch Sheefish which he caught with a Pixie from a gravel bar upon which we landed and encamped on the Kobuk River.  The Kobuk is reknowned for a healthy population of this uniquely Arctic member of the Whitefish family. Stan with Sheefish

While Dad was able to catch about a dozen of these interesting fish with the Spinning Rod, I was unable to find one on the Fly Rod.
