The Internet has become an essential tool that enables companies to easily and cost-effectively gather and research information, sell products, advertise, and exchange ideas. However, with widespread Internet access for your workers, new challenges and concerns arise.

With Web Site Blocking, your company can improve employee productivity by helping channel employees away from Internet sites that are unrelated to their work. Web Site Blocking can not only boost your employees' online productivity, it is also an excellent way to keep potentially objectionable material away from the workplace.

The Business Benefits

  • Keep employees productive while surfing the web
With Web Site Blocking you can enable your employees to access the business-critical and rich resources on the Internet, while helping to keep them focused on business and undistracted by Web sites that are not relevant to their work.
  • Protect Your Employees and Limit Potential Liability
By restricting access to inappropriate sites, you can protect your employees from online content that might be found offensive and reduce the risk of corporate legal liability on issues such as sexual harassment.

On the Configure Web Site Blocking page, you can specify the Web sites or categories of Web sites that you want to prevent users from accessing. You can change the list of blocked Web sites at any time.

How This Feature Works
Using Cyber Patrol's software, a leading Internet filtering software package, the InterJet's Web Site Blocking feature uses the "CyberNOT Block List
," a listing of thousands of Internet sites that contain material which might be found questionable. You can choose to block web sites from specific categories.  This means that these "CyberNOT Block List" sites will not be available to those accessing the Internet from within your company. You can customize the blocking list by selecting which categories of content you wish to be inaccessible. Plus, you can even add extra web addresses (URLs) to the list of sites to block.

You can choose to block sites that fall within the following categories:

  • Alcohol & Tobacco - Pictures or text advocating the sale, consumption, or production of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products
  • Drugs/Drug Culture - Pictures or text advocating the illegal use of drugs for entertainment. Includes substances used for other than their primary purpose to alter the individual's state of mind, such as glue sniffing
  • Full Nudity - Pictures exposing any or all portions of the human genitalia.
  • Gross Depictions - Pictures or descriptive text of anyone or anything which are crudely vulgar or grossly deficient in civility or behavior or which show scatological impropriety.
  • Intolerance -Pictures or text advocating prejudice or discrimination against any race, color, national origin, religion, disability or handicap, gender, or sexual orientation
  • Militant/extremist- Pictures or text advocating extremely aggressive and combative behaviors, or advocacy of unlawful political measures
  • Partial Nudity - Pictures exposing any or all portions of the human genitalia
  • Questionable/Illegal & Gambling - Pictures or text advocating materials or activities of a dubious nature which may be illegal in any or all jurisdictions, such as illegal business schemes, chain letters, copyright infringement, computer hacking, phreaking (using someone's phone lines without permission) and software piracy. Also includes text advocating gambling relating to lotteries, casinos, betting, numbers games, on-line sports or financial betting
  • Satanic or Cult - Pictures or text advocating devil worship, an affinity for evil, or wickedness. Or the advocacy to join a cult
  • Sex Education - Pictures or text advocating the proper use of contraceptives.
  • Sexual Acts - Pictures or text exposing anyone or anything involved in explicit sexual acts and or lewd and lascivious behavior
  • Sport and Leisure - Activities relating to sports or leisure activities considered inappropriate for the work place.
  • Violence/Profanity - Pictures or text exposing extreme cruelty, physical or emotional acts against any animal or person which are primarily intended to hurt or inflict pain. Obscene words, phrases, and profanity defined as text that uses, but is not limited to, George Carlin's 7 censored words more often than once every 50 messages (Newsgroups) or once a page (web sites).

Web Site Blocking is the ideal way to ensure that your company gets the most out of your business-class internet access. However, no filtering software can completely block out all sites containing objectionable content.
