We are glad to be able to offer you the opportunity of attending a Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Fairbanks, Alaska...the Golden Heart city...right in the center of our great state's Interior! This school has now been run in more than 130 different countries around the world.
What is a DTS?
The DTS is a LIFE-CHANGING Christian residential training program divided into two parts. The first half of the school (the Lecture Phase) consists of 12 weeks of classroom teaching, corporate worship and intercession times, small group interaction, work duties, and lots of fun fellowship. Usually there will be some local outreach opportunities during this time, as well. The second half of the school (the Field Assignment) is 8-12 weeks of ministry outreach into a different culture. Our goal during this time is to see each student develop a deeper relationship with the Lord, learn to listen to God's voice, and grow in their confidence of sharing the gospel with other people. Our motto is "To know God and to make Him known."
The Discipleship Training School is the basic training course that Youth With A Mission (YWAM) offers. It is registered with YWAM's international university--University Of the Nations--and gives you the opportunity of continuing in other YWAM schooling around the world. Successful completion of a DTS opens the possibility of continuing to work with YWAM in different kinds of mission work.
Tentatively (in faith that God will send the needed support staff) our next Fairbanks DTS will be offered mid-to late September 2008. Targeted outreach locations for our schools have typically been in the Arctic regions of North America, Canada, Greenland, and Russia, but are not necessarily limited to those areas. In fact, God surprised us several years ago by sending us to ISRAEL for our field assignment! We subsequently went to Israel the following year, as well. Our most recent outreach location (Spring 2006) was the city of Lutsk in western Ukraine...another surprise God had for us! It's what can happen when you're committed to hearing from God and obeying Him!
