Overview of Senator Menard and UAA

During the 2008 election, Senator Menard replied to the Association’s election survey that she will continue to be a strong advocate for my university.” In 2009, Senator Menard was the single sponsor for a bill which concerned professional student exchange loan forgiveness. Senator Menard was a cosponsor for SB23 which would repeal the current defined contribution retirement plans.

Senator Menard is an inaugural member of the UA Boosters Caucus. In 2010, Senator Menard sponsored a bill (SB174) for expanding the UA Scholars program. She was also a cosponsor of SB221 which establishes the Alaska Merit Scholarship program. SB221 was approved and forwarded to the Governor. In 2011, Senator Menard was a cosponsor for SB107 which appropriates funding for engineering facilities at UAA and UAF. Senator Menard was also a member of the Higher Education Committee.
