Overview of Senator Dyson and UAA
Senator Dyson was elected to the Senate in 2002 after serving several terms in the House. He has been a consistent University supporter as a member of the Finance Committee. In 2004, he helped pass legislation on workforce development and intellectual property. In the past, he has worked hard to pass land deals that benefited UAA. He also served on an all-star advisory group to evaluate the progress of welfare reform. UAA benefited from the outcome of this effort. On occasion, Senator Dyson has spoken up for the important role of University faculty in the State.
In 2006 and 2007 Senator Dyson was very supportive of the University during key Finance Committee deliberations. In 2007 he tried unsuccessfully to add an amendment for UA funding on the Senate floor.
In 2008 he was supportive of the university as a member of the Senate Finance Committee and the UA finance subcommittee. Senator Dyson attended the 2009 USUAA luncheon.
In 2010 and 2011, Senator Dyson’s support was infrequent.
