Overview of Senator Bunde and UAA
Senator Bunde was elected to the senate in 2002 after serving several terms in the house. He is a former ACC/UAA faculty member who is particularly interested in the community college mission. His record for UAA is mixed. He can be a vocal public critic of the University, and he does not support graduate programs, research, UAA student housing, or extended campuses. But he has also provided important support at key times. He has voted for the University land bill, library funding, and an increased operating budget. In 2003, he cast a crucial vote that resulted in an important increment in the University’s budget. In 2005 and 2006, he gave notable support to the university’s budget requests. Senator Bunde was very supportive of the university during key Finance Committee deliberations. In 2007 he tried unsuccessfully to add an amendment for UA funding on the senate floor. Senator Bunde announced that he will not run for reelection in 2010.
