Overview of Representative Tuck and UAA

Chris Tuck was first elected to represent district 29 in the November 2008 election. He did not respond to the UAA Faculty and Staff Association’s survey. He was endorsed by United Academics AAUP/AFT and APEA/AFT. Representative Tuck was a cosponsor for HB30 and a primary sponsor for HB54 which would repeal the current defined contribution retirement plans. Representative Tuck was a primary sponsor for HB56 a bill for student loan forgiveness and a cosponsor for HB58 which concerned repayments of educational loans. Representative Tuck also was a cosponsor for HB94 for postsecondary scholarships.

He met with the Association’s executive committee in the Fall of 2009. In 2010, Representative Tuck tried to increase the University’s budget by speaking in favor of an amendment introduced on the House Floor. The amendment failed 14-26 along caucus lines. Representative Tuck was endorsed by APEA during the 2010 General Election. In 2011, Representative Tuck voted for the floor amendment to increase the UA budget. The amendment did not pass.
