Representative Bill Stoltze
Overview of Representative Stoltze and UAA
Representative Stoltze was first elected in 2002. He has taken classes at UAA and is a UAF alumnus. He supported the budget bills that were favorable to the University.
In 2009 Representative Stoltze provided notable support for the University as the co-chair of the House Finance Committee and as a member of the Conference Committee. Representative Stoltze was helpful in securing $15 million in funding for the UAA Sports Complex. In 2010, Representative Stoltze played a significant role in passing Proposition B which resulted in major capital funding for the University including $80 million for the UAA Sports Arena. Unfortunately he also supported the House intent language for establishing a funding ratio which would decrease state support for the University.
In 2011, Representative Stoltze provided critical support for the University as the co-chair of the House Finance Committee and as a member of the UA House Finance subcommittee. As a member of the House Finance subcommittee on the University, Representative Stoltze was supportive of UA and voted “do pass” on the committee’s version of the UA budget which was slightly better than the Governor’s proposed budget for UA. He also attended a meeting with students at UAA in January, 2011 and the Board of Regents Meeting in June 2011. Representative Stoltze was instrumental in securing $34 million for the UAA Sports Arena.
