About the UAA Faculty and Staff Association

The UAA Faculty and Staff Association is a voluntary organization operating outside the formal structure of the University.  Its primary purpose is to engage in political activities supporting the growth and development of UAA.

Since 1971, the Association has traditionally lobbied for monies that benefit the campus community as a whole rather than the special interests of particular programs.  The Association supports instructional programs with an emphasis on full-time faculty and staff positions, equipment, building renovation, and new construction.  The cumulative contribution of the Association over the last thirty-six years has been substantial.

The Association is not affiliated with any union.  The unions have a statewide perspective that focuses on labor contracts affecting employees and throughout the UA system. The focus of the Faculty and Staff Association is the quality of academic life at UAA.  The Association advocates for resources to support an innovative educational environment, improved physical facilities, and a full contingent of faculty and staff.
