The Quest for the Falcon

Many many years ago, a young knight set out to prove his love for his lady. Undertaking the quest she had set for him, he set out for the court of Arthur, King of Britan and leader of many fine Knights. But before he came near that worthy court, he came upon a lovely maiden who could tell him of what lay ahead. And what lay ahead included tests of his courage, his prowess, and his composure. That and some really tough knights.

The Barony of Eskalya will be hosting a tournament at this summers Newcomer’s Event which recreates a story from The Art of Courtly Love (written late 12^th century). Each entrant will take on the part of the young knight and combat against three Knights of Oertha in his Quest for the Falcon.

The details will be made clear at the event that day. All who seek to participate should come prepared with their arms in good order. You may limit yourself to your preferred weapon or you may wish to come ready for combat with spear and pollaxe as well.

After the Quest, there will be a single sword melee. The melee shall be open to all, both those who did and did not run the Quest. The melee will be run in resurrection fashion for a time of fifteen minutes.

As has been done in prior years, there will be ribbons made available to the gallery, the knights and, for the melee, the combatants. These ribbons may be bestowed to recognize honor and prowess as each sees fit. Recognition and prizes shall be awarded to whosoever does best in each the Quest and the Melee.
