Current and Future Raven Football Parents and Friends

 

 

The Eielson Raven Football Lions club is a group of volunteers from the communities of Eielson, North Pole, Moose Creek and Salcha dedicated to the support of our Eielson Raven Football team.  We initially organized in the summer of 2007 and became an official Lions club in September of 2007.

 

You may ask why a group of mostly family and coaches of Raven Football players chose to become organized to form this club.  There are many costs associated with high school sports that just simply cannot be funded by the school.  Football is very expensive.  Our coach, David DeVaughn, goes the extra mile to make sure our kids are not hurt by choosing the best safety equipment available.  In years past, the coaches and players did their best to raise the extra funds needed to ensure this safety to the tune of about $15,000 per year.  This is why we are here.  By working together, we can help the players by providing the tools necessary to train, compete and be successful as a student athlete at Ben Eielson High School.  100% of funds raised by this group go directly to the Eielson Raven football team.  By joining Lions International, we have more tools to make this possible such as insurance, gaming permits to conduct raffles and a great mentoring program.

 

Besides the usual equipment upgrades, we have many long term goals such as rebuilding of playing surface, weight room upgrades to help all students at Ben Eielson, concession building, field signage upgrades and player grants to camps and educational scholarships.

 

For us, football doesn’t conclude in October with the championship game.  We meet monthly throughout the year to strategize and execute fundraising.  One of the most exciting aspects of this group is, we have fun!  I personally am grateful for the friendships I have gained by being associated with this group of supportive people.  When people join together with common goals, the rewards are plentiful. 

 

We have a lot planned for fundraising this spring and summer from car washes at Walmart, food booths at the Downtown Solstice Street Fair and The Cruisin’ With Santa Car Show to running chains at all interior games.
