Seldovia Alaska is a place for those truly seeking peace and quiet. No one really passes through the tiny village. It is off the road system and about 12 miles south of Homer across Kachemak Bay, and can only be reached by boat or plane. It takes a little effort to get there. You need to leave your car behind. Everything in the small village is within walking distance. Beach combing, hiking, mountain biking, berry picking, sight seeing, fishing, and good old rest and relaxation are among the few activities the community has to offer.
Swan House will arrange your transportation from Homer for you, whether it be tour boat or air taxi (every hour). The cost is $32 per person each way, any combination. The boat tour is narrated one way.
Swan House South was purchased by Jerry and Judy Swanson in September 1994,
and completed in 2001. The construction on the over 3,500 square foot home began in 1980 by the original owners, who had plans for a summer home only. The home was only an exterior shell when the Swansons bought it and decided this was the perfect setting for a bed and breakfast. The house is located high above the water with multi-level decks that rise above the tidal slough with views that never end.
Swan House South B & B has been featured in the following publications:
The guest rooms in Swan House South were recently remodeled into large comfortable suites, as this is a place for adults to get away from it all and relax in the peace and quiet Seldovia has to offer.
All
of our guest rooms have a wonderful view, whether it be the mountains or the water, and are decorated with custom shades (room darkening) and curtains. Fresh cut flowers from our on-site greenhouse are placed in each room. We will arrange bouquets for special events by request at a small fee. The top level has three lovely rooms, of which two of these are suites; all private baths with tiled floors and modern fixtures. Our rooms have comfortable queen or king-size Serta beds; Tidewater Suite has additional twin beds.
Our newest additions are the Treehouse Suite on the top level overlooking the water, nestled high in the spruce trees, and the Tidewater Suite on the main level. In the Treehouse Suite there are large windows for viewing the eagles from below, and a private deck in the tree tops. This room is appointed with a tub and shower and a sitting room.
The Garden Suite is the only room with a king-size bed. This room also has its own private deck with table and chairs to sit and enjoy your morning coffee; a sunken sitting room and has a view of the mountains. This is our only room with satellite t.v.
The Eagle's Nest Suite is another luxury suite on the top level, with a sitting room overlooking the water. The suite a leather sofa to enjoy a good book or a movie, private bath, table and chairs. The main level room is our largest room, the Tidewater Suite overlooking the water, with a large bathroom with shower and a bathtub. Plush monogrammed bathrobes and slippers are provided for our guest's use.
Note: Our suites have VCRs; mt. bike rentals available.

The dining area is an all glass enclosed "cafe style" room with dining tables overlooking the water, nestled high in the spruce. Fresh cut flowers are on our tables daily. Salmon can be observed swimming upstream from your table! A setting that compares to no other!
A secluded gazebo with hot tub that hangs over the cliff overlooking the water is our newest addition to Swan House South, along with a 50 foot private dock. Bring your fishing gear and catch a King salmon from our property!
