SUSITNA PLACE caters to travelers. For less than the price of a hotel room, guests will find cheerful, recently updated lodging, an inspiring view and a generous continental breakfast.

The 4,000-square-foot bed and breakfast is in a quiet location, atop a bluff overlooking Cook Inlet, yet is a short walk from the heart of Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska. Shops, fine and casual dining and the Coastal Trail are nearby.


	Decks provide panoramic Cook Inlet and mountain views. Mount Susitna -- “Sleeping Lady” -- is framed by floor-to-ceiling windows on both levels of the home. Mount McKinley and Aleutian Range volcanoes are visible on a clear day, beluga whales surface occasionally, and guests can watch some of the world’s most extreme tides roll in and out of Knik Arm. Aurora borealis displays are possible, though rare during the long days of summer.


	A luxury master suite, a large junior suite, three standard rooms with private bath and four rooms that share two baths accommodate virtually any budget. Summer rates start at $100 double occupancy, plus 12 percent lodging tax. Reduced rates and long-term discounts are available during the low season.
