Alaskan S.T.C. & Modification

When flying in Alaska is does not take long to realize that all airplanes are not equal. Some airplanes perform better then other like airplanes. The difference sometimes is performance modifications. F A Dodge has many more modifications and Stc’s.  Too many to list here.  For
example, Cessna folding and removable seats, super cub folding seats. 30 gal  wing
tanks for cubs. as well as many misc parts. Call for more information.

In addition to the above modifications, Stoddard Aero Service Inc. had some Stc’s
but they were sold to Univair Aircraft back in 1973.

 Stoddard also had some Auxilary Fuel Tanks for cub style aircraft.  These were sold
 to another Aircraft business in 1973.  This business has since  shut down  so the
 Auxilary Fuel Tanks or the paper work (Stc’s) for fuel tanks are no longer available.

Some of the Stoddard's modifications now available from us or Univair Aircraft in
Denver, Co. are:

Stoddard's  installation 0f  0-290 D or D2 engine in PA-12 or PA-12S  or J5A aircraft.
Must use Stoddard Short Mount #501. Engine cowl must be shortened and a

Univair conversion of the PA-22 to the PA-20 landing gear configeration. (tricycle
to tail-wheel).  Requires new landing gear, some bottom cowl midifications and
a tail wheel. (some welding required). Several options available for this conver-

Univair has heavy duty PA-18 landing gear legs available. They were developed
for the  rugged use that Alaskan Guides and Bush Pilots put this aircraft thru.
The axles can be had in 1 1/4 and 1 1/2  size. Both size axles are made of heavier
and stronger material, and the main gear legs are made with heavier tubing and have
reinforcements and gussets located at the weak points to help prevent breakage.

Univair has also made a heavy duty  lower shock leg for the PA-18 gear. This is
the weakest point on the PA-18 gear. These heavy duty shock legs are a must

Univair PA-18 tail section. Designed to replace bent, damaged, corroded tail
section. Includes vertical tail post and bottom longerons 43 inches foreward of
the tail post.  Requires only 6 splices. Tubing for splices included. Parts & Stc.

Univair also has PA-18 nose bulkhead section and top deck section and top deck
former section, to help repair and/or rebuild your fuselage. These parts are exact

Univair has several Wheel & Brake conversions, utilizing the popular Cleveland
Wheels and Brakes. They have conversion STC’s for both 1 1/4 axle and 1 1/2
axle cub style aircraft (J-3 thru PA20/22). Please call with your requirements.                             $POR

Univair installation of Continental 0-200 engine in J-3(with standard length
metal spar wings). Requires electrical system and at least 15 Gal fuel capacity.

Univair replacment ribs for Piper aircraft. J-3 thru PA-25. These ribs are made of
stamped aluminum and are much stronger than the original Piper rib. They can be
purchased individually or in kits for specific wings. AD42-BSLF pop rivits are

Univair has 180HP Lycoming engine conversion for  PA-22 aircraft.  PA-22
must be converted  to taildrager. Conversion uses new Dynafocal engine  mount.
Cowl must be modified.  3 different types of kits are offered so that a custom
installation is easy to choose. (Lycoming Engine is also available for this

Univair has 180HP Lycoming engine conversion for Stinson 108-1 thru 108-3.
And  a 200HP Lycoming engine conversion for Stinson 108-3.  Aircraft needs

Airglass Engineering Cargo Pod/Belly Tank  Fits PA-18 land plane. Has 18 gal fuel capacity
in front of pod and rear of pod has  door for 50 lb cargo capacity. Pod can be removed  in
15 minutes after initial installation. PA-18 Sea Plane and PA-12 models available in near

We are currently making a Fiberglass Nose Cowl that splits in two pieces, and fits
experimental/homebuilt PA 12/14/18/20/22 type cowling. It's being made with or without
the oil cooler scoop. Its l lb lighter than the Aluminum and reinforced with Carbon Fiber
