 To be called a Catholic

Many people join a church because they like the people, or the community, or the Pastor, or that is were their friends go. These is a very important reason, but please don't let it be the one and only reason. Catholics believe it is important to like and get along with the company you keep. But we also believe the decision to become Catholic, perhaps the most important decision of your life:
Should be based on truth, not feelings, or personalities.
  Should be a lifelong commitment
And should lead you into a process which will change your way of living, thinking, and doing.
As we read the scriptures it is clear that Jesus intended to found only one church. And He wanted it to be united. The early Church was first called "Catholic", which means universal, in the year 325 after the Roman Empire had been converted to Christianity.
The Catholic Church has a rich 2000-year tradition of living gospel. It embraces the wisdom of the ancient world, the middle ages, and modern times
Being Catholic means standing with social reformers who want to change the world. The Catholic Church has always been concerned for human betterment. Accepting the Catholic vision means never accepting things as they are.
Catholicism has never been a matter of just "Blind Faith". There are some concepts that one will never be able to fully comprehend and must be accepted on Faith. But even these concepts have a theology behind them. The Catholic ideal is to respect reason and to promote understanding.
Catholics who are firmly grounded in their faith do not feel threatened by scientific knowledge. They believe that all knowledge comes from God, whether it is revealed or discovered.
