halibut salmon fishing sightseeing charters tours deepsea ocean homer alaska
The scenery and wildlife in and around the waters of Cook Inlet, Kachemak Bay, and Homer, Alaska are second to none. A typical day on these waters will provide you with the opportunity to view Sea Otters, a huge variety of Birds (Eagles, Puffins etc.), Porpoises, Whales, Black Bears, Mountain Goats and more. All this, surrounded by the snow capped mountains of the Kenai Peninsula in South Central Alaska.
While the Alaska scenery and wildlife are spectacular, the area around Homer is most famous for its halibut fishing. The average day of fishing aboard the Sea Nymph will bring you a limit of halibut fish (2 per person) weighing between 20 and 50 pounds, with the possibility of hooking into one of those famous "barn doors". The 1997 season was our best ever for big fish, with the largest halibut being 277 lbs.
Two things make halibut fishing out of Homer very exciting. First, you almost always catch fish. Last year we had a 99% success rate limiting the boat. Secondly, anyone, master fisherman or novice, has a chance at hooking a monster Alaska fish. More times than not, the most successful fisherpeople on the boat are the ladies and the children. This makes halibut fishing truly a family adventure.
The Sea Nymph is a 32 foot Luhrs with a 12.5ft beam. She fishes up to six fishermen at a time. She has a very comfortable cabin that features a private restroom, plenty of seating, microwave, coffeepot, heat, and running water. This makes for a very enjoyable trip to the fishing grounds and once there, the large back deck gives everyone plenty of fishing area. You will be provided with top quality fishing equipment: Penn Stand Up Slammer poles and Penn 345GTI level-wind reels with 80# kevlar line. The crew will then offer advice on how to use this equipment, bait your hook, and land your halibut. We also provide free fish filleting and will gladly arrange for the care of your catch when we return to the harbor.

Safety is also a huge concern on our adventures. Twin Isuzu Diesels give the Sea Nymph unbeatable safety and dependability. She is also equipped with top of the line electronics including, radar, depth sounders, VHF and CB radio, cell phone, and a GPS (Global Positioning System). Captain Rob has also taken a 120 hour Emergency Medical Technician course in preparation for any emergency.
So grab your raingear, warm clothes and a lunch and come along for a safe, quality fishing trip where your satisfaction is #1.
