* Staff reviewed 2001 and 2002 exams to determine if Kenny Lake School was weak in any specific standards.

* Staff targeted "not proficient" and "below proficient" students. Items considered were past test scores, attendance, entrance in Kenny Lake School, identified learning needs, and participation in intervention programs.

* Established a data base for all students to include test scores, attendance, entrance in Kenny Lake School, identified learning needs, and participation in intervention programs.

The writing sections of the Alaska Assessments are scored utilizing a version of the 6 Trait Writing Rubruic, therefore Kenny Lake staff values the importance of annual writing assessments.
