Network Support

The standard 4.x/5.x kernels have support for many 16-bit network cards.

Tested network cards:

original DM9008 NIC/hub:	WORKS: ed0 at isa? port 0x300 irq 10 iomem 0xd8000 (Joe)

original DP83905 NIC (dual): WORKS: Kernel config (from Sake):
                                device ed0 at isa? port 0x300 irq 10 iomem 0xd8000
                                device ed1 at isa? port 0x340 irq 11 iomem 0xdc000

				under 5.x, update /boot/device.hints as follows and reboot:

					hint.ed.0.disabled="0"
					hint.ed.0.port="0x300"
					hint.ed.0.irq="10"
					hint.ed.0.maddr="0xd8000"
					hint.ed.1.disabled="0"
					hint.ed.1.port="0x340"
					hint.ed.1.irq="11"
					hint.ed.1.maddr="0xdc000"

				A DOS config utility for this card (thanks, Sake!)

3Com 3C503 doesn't work with default config; researching

3Com 3C509b (w/o PNP)	 	WORKS: ep0 w/stock kernel on IRQ9

3Com 3C509b (w/o PNP)		WORKS: ep0 w/stock kernel on IRQ9

3Com 3C509b-TPO (w/o PNP)	WORKS: ep0 w/stock kernel on IRQ9
