The IRN Question -- Vol 6, #1

Greets!

This message is going to serve a couple of purposes, to minimize the amount
of time it takes to get thing thing rolling this semester.

First, because my schedule has shifted around a bit this semester, I am going 
to be compiling the answers and sending out the new questions on Sunday 
evenings, or thereabouts.  All answers received by Saturday midnight are 
therefore guaranteed to be in that Sunday's issue.  Answers received after 
that may be included in the current issue or the following issue, whatever I 
feel like.  

QUASI-LEGALESE BIT FOLLOWS:

By sending a message to ASRDW1@orion.alaska.edu within two weeks of the date 
of this message, with the subject "Re: The IRN Question -- Vol 6, #1" or a 
similar subject, you implicitly agree: 

1) that, if given the premises "All fish live under water" and "All mackerel 
   are fish," you will conclude, not that "All mackerel live under water," 
   but you will instead conclude that "If I buy kippers it will not rain,"
   that "trout live in trees," or even that I do not love you any more.  This
   you will call using your "intuition."  I will call it "crap," and it will 
   get me very *IRRITATED*, because it is not logical.  

2) that you acknowledge that you are voluntarily receiving the compiled 
   answers to the IRN Question, and that you have been informed that you may
   withdraw your subscription at any time.  (You are so informed.)  The 
   assertion that you were abducted by aliens who forced you to subscribe has
   been tested in court, and has failed, so don't mess with my lawyer, Lance
   Wells.  Reasonable rates.

3) that the truth of these three statements are completely independent of 
   each other and may or may not be completely arbitrary.
