Clark - UAA Math VAX Well, since you said most important, not best... The continual advancement of high speed transportation. Nearly all of mankind has been connected to each other over the past 100 years or so. Air travel has allowed people and goods to travel between continents in a manner of hours, thus giving businesses world-wide markets and allowing thinkers from around the world to come together to share ideas, thus speeding advancements in other areas. On a smaller scale, the wide-spread ownership of automobiles has permitted cities to expand, helping to move people outward from city-centers and causing the dramatic growths of suburbs. Plus, of course, without the automobile, it's hard to imagine a city the size of Anchorage existing in this climate! The merits/drawbacks of these advancements are very debatable, however. -- ^^^~~~^^^~~~^^^~~~^^^~~~^^^~~~^^^~~~^^^~~~^^^~~~^^^~~~^^^~~~^^^~~~^^^~~~^^^~~~ | Brady W.
