Grades: Your grade is determined in the following manner:
Total points accumulated
X 100 = percentage score
Total points possible
Scale (%) You earn points by:
A = 90 100
B = 80 89
C = 70 79
D = 60 69
F = 0 59 1. Tests and Quizzes
2. Keeping updated file folder/notebook
3. Homework/Classwork, Projects, Reports,Journal, Current Events

Course Requirements: Reading and writing on aregular basis. Library investigation, magazine or newspaper critiques, anthropological summaries, lecture notes, semester project (dig), short research paper, site visits, presentations, tests, quizzes, and more!
Essays and Writing Journal: A class journal is required. It must be a separate spiral notebook. Essays and writing assignments will be required on a regualr basis. Drafts and final copies are to be written in the journal. Anthropological summaries may also be kept in this journal.
Make-up work: It is the student's responsibility to find out and make up any work missed due to an excused absence. (Work missed due to an unexcused absence cannot be made up). Missed tests and quizzes must be made up outside of class time. The student has one day for everyday missed to make-up work. Certain labs and simulations may not always be duplicated if a student is absent. Because of the nature of simulations and lab exercises if a student is absent during a simulation or lab exercise those points may be lost and not be made up.
Daily Requirements: Always bring your willingness to learn and explore, your book, journal, a pen or pencil, and paper.
Other Policies: A. Cheating will not be tolerated.
B. Common courtesy and good classroom behavior is expected of
all students taking this course.
C. Students must be able to separate knowledge from belief.
An open-minded ability to learn about scientific theories related
to this course without having one's private belief system threatened
is essential. Specifically, this course will require an understanding
of the scientific theory of evolution, regardless of what your
personal beliefs are.
Extra credit: I do not expect any of my students to do any extra work for this course.
Late work: I will accept a late assignment up to one week after it is due for half credit. One week is the equivalent of five days after the assignment is due. After one week I will not accept late work.
Tardy Policy: I do not give "free" tardies. Consequences
for tardiness are as follows:
1st Tardy: 10 minute detention in my room at lunch.
2nd Tardy: Clean all of my tables.
3rd Tardy: Clean all of my tables and my board.
4th Tardy: Clean all of my tables, board and windows.
5th Tardy: Clean all tables, board, windows, and scrape gum off
bottom of tables.
I have never had a 6th Tardy. Don't be the first person to get one. The main office supports my use of this tardy policy. If you fail to show for one of the above detentions work details will be assigned after school. I'm sure I can find something for you to do.
Web Page: I have created a Web Page that has the reading assignments for the semester. If you are absent you might check it out for your assignments. The Web Page may take me a week or so to get up and running. However, the assignments posted are subject to change. Please pay attention in class to receive new assignments. The address is: http://www.alaska.net/~prospero. My school email address is as follows: Kirk_Kelly@msmail.asd.k12.ad.us>
Do not move around the room during discussions, or lectures.
Sharpen your pencils before class begins.
