KEEP A JOURNAL WHEN INJURED

If you have been injured and are in the process of recovery, and there may be a potential personal injury claim, it may be wise to keep a journal, which you should start after discussing this with a lawyer. In your journal, you can write important information which will help your lawyer to assist you with your case. Write down facts about the accident and dates of treatment. If you are out of work due to the injury or lose an important job prospect, record the dates when you missed work. If you are experiencing pain related to the accident, record when you felt the pain, where it was located, and any events in which the pain was significant. If you learn that you can not do an activity that you could do prior to the injury, record this information in the journal.

In addition to keeping a journal, take photographs of your injuries, if visible. Photograph damages done to your car and have someone take a picture of you using any devices prescribed by the doctor such as canes, wheelchairs and braces.

Your case could take months or years to conclude. Journals and photographs will keep these facts fresh.
