  LEGAL SEASON'S GREETINGS

HAPPY 2000!

PLAN NOW FOR HOLIDAY SUCCESS

December seems to be one of the busiest times of the year for many Alaskans, as well as the law firm. Avoid legal problems by keeping in mind the following:

• If you married, are considering marriage, divorced, or purchased stocks in 1999, consult with your CPA or accountant about tax consequences.

•If there are holiday visitation issues, attempt to work out an agreement far in advance with the other parent, and if that fails, file early to avoid the last minute emergency rush.

•Wear seat belts and designate drivers if drinking to minimize the risk of injuries, accidents and arrests this holiday season.

On behalf of everyone at Pradell and Associates, have a safe and happy holiday season!

ABOUT THE FIRM:

WHO WE ARE

As 2000 comes into view, we thank you for your support and referrals. We have come to know many people since the firm began in 1993. In this newsletter we share more about our firm.

Walt Arden became an attorney in 1973, after graduating third in his class from San Francisco Law School. Since 1983, he has practiced in Alaska in the areas of family law, adoption, criminal and probate law. He received the American Jurisprudence Award for Contracts and Criminal Practice.

Steven Pradell is the author of Winning the War Against Life Threatening Diseases, (New Horizon, 1994). His new book, the Alaska Family Law Handbook, is available in Anchorage bookstores and by calling the law office.

Natalie Holland and Mary Snigaroff are the two new faces who recently joined the firm. You will probably speak with one of these people when you call!

Laura Borck is an office secretary who answers many of your phone calls each day.

Randy Borck is a file clerk and computer guru at the office.

Teresa Mata is a paralegal and handles collections at the firm. She is presently on vacation.

IF YOU ARE IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT:

•Stop. Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime

•Check to see if anyone is hurt

•Call the police and an ambulance, if necessary

•Exchange information with the other driver, including names, addresses, phone numbers, license numbers, insurance carriers and policy numbers

•Obtain names, addresses and phone numbers of witnesses

•If you have a camera, take pictures of the accident scene

•Consider talking with your lawyer before you make any statements to anyone about the accident to learn your rights and to make informed decisions

•If you may be injured, go to the emergency room as soon as possible

•Report the accident to your insurance company
