The Kreen of the Crimson Savannah have been afflicted by a terrible deadly plague seeping forth from Kano Swamp. It is horribly contagious and the kreen die within a few days. Though they loathe to do it, the Kreen must summon the 'meat races' (non-kreen) and send them into the swamp to investigate the disease for no kreen can get near the fetid wetland without contracting it. As the party reaches the Kreen Empire they realize that armies are drilling for what looks like war of some sort, yet dozens of the soldiers are becoming ill. When the party enters the swamp they find a great conspiracy at hand, a seemingly deranged preserver has taken control of a long forgotten temple and unleashed a plague of the ancient nature benders. However, with further investigation the preserver is not so crazy, he has unleashed the disease for a reason. The Kreen, as the PCs found, are preparing for war, except the war will be against the Tablelands and invasion of the human kingdoms is imminent. In hopes of stopping the invaders the preserver unleashed the contagion. Now the PCs have a dilemma, allow the genocide of the Kreen to continue and save the Tablelands from war at the cost of thousands of Kreen or force the preserver to make a cure and prepare for invasion.
