Location: Northwest Africa, location unknown. Purchased in 2022.
Found: Purchased in October 2022.
Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3).
Description: History: Purchased by Eric Twelker in October 2022 from a dealer in Guelmim, Morocco. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS , and J. Boesenberg, BrownU ) Well-defined small chondrules (apparent diameter 270±240 µm, N = 265) containing devitrified glass together with mineral fragments and some small CAI are set in a fine grained matrix (~20 vol.%, reddish-brown in thin section) containing kamacite, troilite and minor Cr-magnetite. Calcic plagioclase is present in some chondrules and some chondrules contain abundant inclusions of metal and troilite. Minerals in CAI include gehlenite, diopside and forsterite. Geochemistry : Olivine (Fa 21.7±18.6 , range Fa 0.9-50.4 , N = 13; Cr 2 O 3 in ferroan olivine 0.04-0.28 wt.%, mean 0.08±0.07 wt.%, N = 14), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs 14.9±15.9 Wo 1.9±1.5 , range Fs 1.0-45.2 Wo 0.5-4.9 , N = 10), subcalcic augite (Fs 3.7±2.8 Wo 33.4±4.0 , range Fs 1.8-5.7 Wo 30.6-36.3 , N = 2), plagioclase (An 74.9-75.2 Or 0.8 , N = 2), magnetite (Cr 2 O 3 3.8 wt.%).
Classification : Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3).
