Micalyne Ann Kunz, Tlingit name Ka Kee'

meaning Dawn, was born in Juneau, Alaska in 1963. Through her Granmother Cecilia Kunz and her Mother Phyllis Kunz, she is a member of the Lux-na-edel clan from the Dig'ga na hit' frog house in Yakutat, Alaska and the Coho Clan from Sitka, Alaska.

Micalyne is also a direct descendent of Chief Jake Yarkwon of the Kag Wan Ton Tribe and the great great granddaughter of Chief Yeesh ga Nolth of Juneau, Alaska. Micalyne was inspired at an early age by her Grandmother to sew buttons blankets, do bead work and to learn as much as possible about the Tlingit culture and speak their language. Micalyne also enjoys her position as lead drummer for the Juneau Tlingit Dance Group, founded by her Grandmother in 1963.
