The LeeShore Center Volunteer Opportunities
We require all volunteers who work directly with our clients to complete the Community Awareness
Workshop on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and other training relevant to the position. The LeeShore
Center provides such training. For further information on how you may become a valued volunteer with The LeeShore
Center, contact the Volunteer Coordinator, 283-9479.
Each volunteer who will be working with clients is asked to take the Community Awareness Workshop on Domestic
Violence and Sexual Assault, and to have a background check and fingerprinting done.

Non-Crisis Volunteer Opportunities
Activities with women & children: Would you like to teach crafts, do cooking projects, demonstrations,
story time for children, teach aerobics?
Group Volunteers: Is your group looking for a way to volunteer? Come in and do projects, plant flowers,
help with special activities such as our annual Run for Women.
Grounds Projects: Do you like to dip your hands into the earth? If you enjoy planting flowers, weeding,
and mowing the lawn, give us a call. We also need people to do snow and ice removal.
Office Support: Are you looking for office experience? We have opportunities at each of our sites for
volunteers to file, shred, collate, stuff envelopes, type, and work on the computer.
Fundraiser Assistance: Volunteers are needed to help out at the annual Gala.
Handy person: Is your best friend your toolbox? Do you have a garage full of building materials that
aren't being used? We could always use a volunteer to help with the electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
Donations are also very much appreciated.
Assist Volunteer Coordinator: Office experience is offered to those who would like to assist the
volunteer coordinator in typing, filing, copying, scheduling, making phone calls, and assisting in training.
Crisis Volunteer Opportunities
Front Office Support: Are you a good multi-task person? Volunteers are needed to help answer multiple
phone lines, relay messages, work with the public, file, copy, and collate.
Advocacy Assistant: Are you looking for a direct way to help victims of domestic violence? We are looking
for volunteers to work one-on-one with clients (women & children), facilitate groups, interpret when needed, and
assist with protective orders and other paperwork.
Court Support: Do you drop your plans to help a friend in need? Many of the women here need someone to
give them support through the court process.
Life Skills Advocacy: Many of our clients are looking for a new approach to life. Volunteers are needed
to model life skills and facilitate groups.
Sexual Assault (SART) Advocate: Do you stay calm in times of crisis? For many women who suffer a sexual
assault, the exams that follow can be very frightening. We are looking for volunteer advocates who will support
the victim during exams and work with local law enforcement and the sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE). We
provide the training.
