What is the Child Care Food Program?

The Child Care Food Program (CCFP) is a federally funded USDA approved program designed to instill healthy eating habits in young children. The CCFP is a component of The LeeShore Center. The LeeShore Center is the local food program sponsor for the central Kenai Peninsula and Seward. As a sponsor, we provide help, training, and funds to encourage family day care home providers to serve nutritious meals to the children in their care. Participants are reimbursed for the cost of serving a variety of healthy foods. This means a provider does not need to charge parents for the meals children eat while in their care. We provide training for family day care home providers at their homes and through classroom workshops.

These trainings include:

Meal Planning Ideas
Recipes
Activity Ideas
Nutrition Information
Monthly Newsletters
and much, much more

How much money can I make?

Your earnings depend on your income level and/or the income level of the parents of the children in your care.

Also, you may be able to claim meals served to your own children as well.

Who can join the Child Care Food Program?

Any family day care home provider can participate who is:

o Registered with The LeeShore Center's Child Care Assistance Office,

and

o Providing child care for at least one child other than their own (part or full time).

How do I join?

Once you have become registered with the Child Care Assistance Office, all you need to do is call the CCFP Office at 907-283-4707. You'll need to make an appointment for an initial home visit.

You'll be able to start claiming meals the day of your initial home visit.
