Hanging Valley Trail

Follow the valley floor about ____ miles, then climb steeply (gain 600 feet) on grass to the pass in the ridge to the left (north). The pass seems no lower than the ridge, but believe the map. One can easily top the ridge, but the extra elevation will have to be lost at the pass anyway.

Stroll from the pass over gently-rising tundra to Peaks 5065 and 5130.  Both offer a spectacular vista of the length of Eagle River, from the glacier at its head to the valley mouth.  Here also is a magnificent look into the peaks north and east of Eagle River.
