Turnagain Arm Trail (Old Johnson Pass Trail)
One of the first trails to become snow free in early spring, this 9.4 mile trail leads hiker through spruce forests, birch and alder groves, and flower filled meadows. There are great views of Turnagain Arm, spots to watch for Beluga whales and chances to see Dall sheep (frequently seen near Windy Corner). The trail was used by horse and wagons during the construction of the railroad in 1915. Remnants of construction camps remain along the trail, but are barely discernible.
The trail starts at the Potter Trailhead. It's 3.3 miles to McHugh Trailhead, 7.5 to Rainbow Trailhead and 9.4 to Windy Corner Trailhead.
