The Ice Fields

Q: Why do mountain climbers rope together?

A: To prevent the sensible ones from going home. (Reader's Digest)

It's better to be at the bottom wishing you were on top than on top wishing you were at the bottom.

Getting to the top is optional - getting to the bottom is mandatory.

Eklutna Traverse

A remote 40 mile journey across 4 glaciers, from Eklutna Lake Campground to Crow Pass trailhead.  Three small A-frame huts along the route are maintained by the Mountaineering Club of Alaska.  This is not a trip for the beginner.  Snow hidden crevasses, steep avalanche prone areas, whiteouts and storms are just a few of the possible hazards that make this trip only for those who are trained and equipped for glacier travel.
